Job Summary

The Plumbing Installer Apprentice supports the plumbing installation team with residential plumbing system installations, repairs, and service projects while learning the trade through hands-on field experience. This role works closely with experienced plumbers and installers to develop technical skills, maintain safety standards, and provide quality customer service.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist plumbers and installers with residential plumbing installations and repairs
  • Support installation of pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, sinks, toilets, water heaters, and other plumbing fixtures
  • Measure, cut, and prepare piping materials using hand and power tools under supervision
  • Help locate and mark pipe installation areas and fixture placements using measuring tools and levels
  • Assist with assembling pipe sections, tubing, and fittings using approved materials and methods
  • Carry materials, tools, and equipment to job sites and maintain organized work areas
  • Support underground plumbing installations including storm, sanitary, and water piping systems
  • Assist with identifying leaks, testing systems, and troubleshooting plumbing concerns
  • Help with demolition, trenching, and site preparation as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness and professionalism at customer job sites
  • Follow all company safety procedures and use personal protective equipment properly
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by lead installers or management

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Mechanical aptitude and interest in skilled trade work
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools safely
  • Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn from experienced installers
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift materials and perform physical labor daily
  • Strong communication and follow-through abilities
  • Ability to work independently while supporting the team
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Trade school or plumbing/HVAC program experience preferred but not required
  • Entry-level candidates encouraged to apply
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work in confined spaces for extended periods
  • Frequent use of hands and tools throughout the workday

Work Environment

Field-based work environment including residential customer properties indoors and outdoors. Exposure to weather conditions, dust, dirt, chemicals, and construction environments may occur. Personal protective equipment such as gloves, goggles, hard hats, and safety footwear may be required.

Work Schedule

Typically Monday through Friday, with start times varying by project needs. Overtime, weekends, and on-call work may occasionally be required.
